restoration

Postby hjcoupe » Tue 06 Jan, 2015 1:43 pm

He group hows things.

I have a HJ coupe that is badged up as a GTS with instrument panel steering wheel all GTS, looking at the build tags it is an LS

would love some input as to the exact build as I want to restore to original as possible. Also would like to know how rare this model is.

model is 8WP37JR HJ mornaro LS coupe
Body no 830276-S
trim 1899-60v Chamois/covert (cant find any pictures of what this set up looks like)
paint 567-1594 metallic jade green
Eng L32 high compression 253 (currently has a 350 chev)
Trans m40 trimatic

Any help would be great, best restoration people in perth, sites where I could see what the car looked like originally.

Hi Paul, I have just approved your post, things are a bit slower at this time of year with forum moderators having a break and not logging on to check

Personally, I can't help with your question, however it is now out there for comment from our members

Hi there, my bad as well for not checking... Sorry

I believe there were supposed to be 606 HJ GTS coupes. I am also reliably informed 337 LS coupes in the J series..

Rare beasts indeed.

That's the best I can do being the owner of a "plastic" Monaro...
No doubt about it I gotta get another hat!Image

I own a HJ GTS Coupe & I've been told that there were only 603 built with 262 being GTS, so yeas your car is a rare beauty.

I now have a HJ GTS Coupe, 8wq37jr (suit resto) (to go with the GTS HJ 4 door) (and yes the LE)
Body 846668 J
trim 1888-60V Chamois, Covert
paint 568-15951 Cotillion White

Factory Press Car originally
5.0 LTS
Turbo 400

As for the trim, I am still trying to confirm a few things one issue is you can no longer purchase the original carpet colour so if you have any shot of your interior I may be able to peace together some details for us both
Winner products have some re trimmed examples of Chamois covert (just Google them) 60A and 60B I believe have black carpet on the floor and door trims not sure if 60V has Jade or Covert carpet
