More Casey Stoner News!
It was announced yesterday that Pirtek Australia were coming on board as a sponsorship partner for Stoner's #27 Commodore for the Dunlop Series. Casey Stoner also announced that he held out some hope of competing in this year's Super Cheap Auto 1000! Does this mean that there will be three T8 Commodores on the grid at Bathurst?
An interesting story has also surfaced about how Stoner's signing came to light. It appears that there was a leak at the Clipsal 500 office. Programs for the event have already been printed and are waiting distribution. The entries for the Dunlop Series show an entry for Casey Stoner. A reporter who managed to get hold of a copy then turned it into a major story before T8 had made their announcement. It's interesting in that Casey Stoner was only quoted on speedcafe last week saying that he had not signed with T8 and not made his mind up if he was going to try V8 supercars. It must have put Roland Dane and the T8 PR team into a tailspin as one of the reasons why an announcement had not been made was contractual problems with Stoner.
I'm sure there's more to come!
Cheers,
Mark.
