Oficially Official - Casey Stoner & 888

Postby mnrolvr » Sun 27 Jan, 2013 10:36 am

It appears to be officially official that Casey Stoner will be competing in the 888 Racing Development Series for the entire season. Will be interesting to see how he transits from 2 to 4 wheels.

He may repeat the efforts of Wayne Gardner - roll on Capt Chaos... :D

Interesting year in both V8s and F1 this year methinks...

It's been announced on the V8 supercars website that Casey Stoner will drive a T8 Commodore in the Dunlop series. (One of Craig Lowndes' older cars). He will be backed by Red Bull (of course). He will contest the full series and his race number will be 27.

Your right Pete, it will be a very interesting year.

Cheers,

Mark. :D

More Casey Stoner News!

It was announced yesterday that Pirtek Australia were coming on board as a sponsorship partner for Stoner's #27 Commodore for the Dunlop Series. Casey Stoner also announced that he held out some hope of competing in this year's Super Cheap Auto 1000! Does this mean that there will be three T8 Commodores on the grid at Bathurst?

An interesting story has also surfaced about how Stoner's signing came to light. It appears that there was a leak at the Clipsal 500 office. Programs for the event have already been printed and are waiting distribution. The entries for the Dunlop Series show an entry for Casey Stoner. A reporter who managed to get hold of a copy then turned it into a major story before T8 had made their announcement. It's interesting in that Casey Stoner was only quoted on speedcafe last week saying that he had not signed with T8 and not made his mind up if he was going to try V8 supercars. It must have put Roland Dane and the T8 PR team into a tailspin as one of the reasons why an announcement had not been made was contractual problems with Stoner.

I'm sure there's more to come!

Cheers,

Mark. :D

As I said on another forum - I reckon V8 Supercars will be lucky to see a couple of years before it drops off. One thing Cochrane has is timing, sell high, buy low....

Yes, where will V8 Supercars be in a few Years, Falcon is a concern, They only have 6 on the Grid this year, and only 5 on the Test day, DJR 2nd Car wasn't there and the one they did was the slowest car on the day!!! :? ss

Apparently they are still to homologate both the Nissan and AMG motors so there may be more that Falcon as a concern :o
