Hi Guys/Girls

My name is Peter and I just joined the Forum, I take delivery of my 2005 Monaro CV8Z next week. I live in northern NSW so probably won't make many runs unfortunately. I have a strong interest in early Holdens, currently have a couple of FJ Holdens too. My daily drive is a 2006 Holden Adventra LX6. My interest in Monaros goes way back for as far as I can remember, I nearly bought a Bathurst HK GTS 327 in the early 80s for just $3500, but the insurance for a teenager turned me away :( . The second opportunity to buy another Bathurst GTS 327 came ten years later but was scuttled by my new wife at the time, she just didn't understand :( . The wife is long gone but my desire to own a Monaro never died and when the new generation Monaro came out I knew I had to have one. With the kids now gone, and now in a financial position to do so, I have just purchased my first Monaro! I know it is a little more mellow than the earlier Monaros but I am now more mellow too!

Anyway, that is my introduction done, I hope to enjoy my time on the Forum. I may end up joining a Monaro club in either Sydney or Brisbane, they are about the same distance from me here, as there won't be a club close by. I would appreciate info on some good Monaro clubs.

Well Peter, welcome aboard, I apologise on behalf of the other 2 administrators and mostly...ME cause we've been slack and haven't checked the administrator panel for some time it would appear..

Mate, I, for one, will always welcome a CV8 driver on board, in fact, I encourage those of us not "living in the past" ;) to get out amongst it. Still cant wipe the smile off my face when I drive the devil..

You are a fair bit north there so as much as I'd love to twist your arm into joining, you may not get the benefit of the group that we do here in the big smoke. There is a club in Newcastle (a bit closer) and a great bunch down in the Riverina but that is of absolutely no use to you anyway...unless...

Again, please accept my sincere apologies for being a slacker here...

Pete

Thanks for the welcome guys, I will get some photos posted once I get my new plates installed. The drive up from Victoria was a blast, I love my new toy, it goes a bit better than my other toys!

Thanks for the welcome guys, and yes I will check out what is on next time I'm down there, I'd like to meet some of you if possible. I took my Monaro for a quick trip to the Gold Coast on the weekend to catch up with my brother, our two Monaros look good together. I can't see an option to post photos, I'm guessing it needs to go through Photobucket? I'm about to get my windows tinted, has anyone used Tint-a-Car Octane film, is it good quality?
